Kaduna State witnessed parallel political campaign rallies on Saturday as supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) took to major roads and streets across the state capital.
Saturday Telegraph correspondent reports that the two parties embarked on road shows and sensitization rallies with music, crowd-filled vehicles and distribution of campaign fliers, causing partial traffic hold-ups in several areas.
The NDC campaign train was largely visible in Sabon Tasha area along Kachia Road between 10:30am and 11:00am.
Supporters were seen with loud music, chanting slogans including “Tinubu Must Go” and distributing fliers bearing photographs of their presidential and vice-presidential candidates, tagged: “Vote Obi/Kwankwaso”.
Meanwhile, the APC rally covered major towns of Kaduna metropolis extending to Kakuri area in Kaduna South Local Government Area and continued till about 2pm. APC supporters, many on motorcycles and in open vehicles, carried posters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, with some wielding sticks and canes.
Our correspondent observed that while the NDC supporters moved on a road show with intermittent traffic hold-up on Kachia Road in Sabon Tasha, the APC supporters’ train moved at a faster pace through streets in the Kakuri-Gwari axis.
Both rallies attracted large crowds of supporters chanting party slogans and displaying candidates’ posters, temporarily taking over major routes in the city before dispersing.
