The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged Abuja residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, warning against repeating what he called the mistake of the 2023 general election.
Speaking at an interactive session organised by the Rainbow Coalition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, Wike asked residents to reflect on their choices in 2023 and consider whether they would make the same decision in the next general elections.
“The mistake we made in 2023, would we make that mistake again? If it was an error, would we make that error again?” he asked.

The Minister urged residents to judge political leaders by their performance rather than their party affiliation, saying political parties should be platforms for delivering good governance.
He said voters should support leaders who understand their challenges and can deliver results.
Wike also defended Tinubu’s administration, pointing to ongoing infrastructure projects in the FCT as evidence of its commitment to development.
He said the Gombe-Kubwa Road would be completed by December and expressed confidence that residents would use it during the Christmas period.
He also disclosed that Julius Adamu, who contested the Bwari Area Council chairmanship for the PDP in the last council elections, had stepped down in support of incumbent chairman Joshua. Wike said he would recommend Adamu for a position at the FCT Universal Basic Education Commission.
